Here the golden eagle paused while eating a chunk of meat. The bald eagle was waiting on the ground below, very patiently. I was surprised they were both in the same cage, but they seemed to get along well.

I didn't see what kinds of injuries put them in here... most times it's wing injuries that would render them unable to live at all in the wild. View On Black

I stopped in at the Willowbrook Wildlife Center because I noticed a sign saying they now had a golden eagle and a bald eagle there. Even though they're caged due to injuries too bad to allow them to live in the wild again, I was glad I went and photographed them. It may be the only time I see these eagles in person. Even caged, they were a thrill to watch. I even happened to get there at feeding time. See the other shot of the golden eagle; it's eating in that shot. The bald eagle (in the same cage) waited patiently for its share. View On Black

Info on the golden eagle, which is smaller only than the bald eagle and the California condor in North America.
